Your data
Delete your account
You can delete your Talk About Pictures account at any time — from inside the app, or here on the web. This page explains exactly what goes and what stays, because "delete my account" means something specific when a family shares a gallery.
Two ways to do it
In the app
- Open TAP.
- Go to the account screen (Log In / your name, top right).
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
On the web
- Sign in to the account portal.
- Open Danger zone at the bottom.
- Click Delete account and confirm.
What is deleted
- Your account record — your email address and display name.
- Your sign-in identities — email, Google, or Apple links, and any pending login codes.
- Your devices — the registered devices and their public keys.
- Your memberships — you are removed from every family you belong to.
- Your transcription usage records.
- Families where you were the only member — deleted outright, including the stored encrypted media for that family.
What is kept
- Families with other members survive — read-only. A shared gallery is your relatives' history too, so deleting your account doesn't delete theirs. The family stops accepting new content and becomes read-only; any remaining member can subscribe to reactivate it. If you were the owner, ownership passes to the longest-standing remaining member.
- Photos and stories on your own device stay on your device. TAP is local-first: your gallery is yours. Deleting your account doesn't reach into your phone, and doesn't remove content you already contributed to a family that still exists.
Cancel your subscription separately
If you pay for a family, deleting your account does not cancel that subscription — only the store can do that. Cancel it before or after deleting, whichever you prefer, but do cancel it:
- Google Play: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions→ Subscriptions → Talk About Pictures → Cancel.
- Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Talk About Pictures.
- Paid on the web (Stripe): use the billing link in the account portal, or email us.
Is it reversible?
No. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there's no grace period and no undo. Signing up again with the same email creates a brand-new account; it does not restore the old one. Read-only families you left behind can be rejoined only if a remaining member invites you again.
Can't sign in?
If you've lost access to your email or the app and can't reach either delete button, write to privacy@talkaboutpictures.appfrom the address on the account (or tell us which address it was) and we'll delete it for you.
